    Social Determinants of Health

Introduces students to population health perspectives. Definitions of health will be discussed starting with individual constructions and moving towards an understanding of health as a social and cultural construct. Students will critically analyze health inequities—how and why some populations experience better or worse health than others. A range of population health promotion interventions is explored, from healthy public policy to the re-orientation of the health care system.
